From unloading a truck to storing and loading cargo onto an airplane - there are numerous vehicles in use in the air freight sector that perform various tasks. But what if a single vehicle could perform all these tasks in the air freight sector? The X-WAY Mover offers exactly this possibility and can efficiently handle the entire ULD handling process, from landside to airside. This versatile, latest-generation device was developed through a collaboration between DIMOS from Petersberg and another company. The two international manufacturers, which specialize in industrial trucks and special vehicles, have been working closely together in the field of air freight since 2017. Back in 2004, DIMOS developed a vehicle that was designed for handling air freight and has now been equipped with additional functions to further increase efficiency.

Maximum maneuverability

Thanks to the new HX steering system, which enables continuous 360° rotation, the X-Way Mover gains considerable maneuverability. Even in confined areas, the vehicle can be steered effortlessly, with the transition from longitudinal to transverse travel being seamless and uninterrupted. The innovative, patented HX steering system not only reduces tire wear, but also speeds up work processes. At the same time, operation of the steering remains user-friendly and intuitive.

Driver comfort

The X-Way Mover offers the driver an ergonomically designed cab that is both weather-protected and air-conditioned. This cab provides a comfortable working environment with excellent all-round visibility. In addition, the information terminal has been further optimized to provide the driver with all important vehicle and operating data. Among other things, the exact position of the wheels can be shown on the display, which further simplifies operation.

Flexible expandability

The X-Way Mover is available in different versions and can be flexibly adapted to different requirements. Thanks to its modular design, the vehicle can initially be used in a basic version, for example as a ULD Mover, and can be expanded with additional functions at any time as required. This means that the X-Way Mover can be individually configured and easily adapted to changing operating conditions. There is also a choice of different platform types: If the vehicle is to be used as a storage and retrieval machine, for example, a platform with a friction wheel drive is ideal. This makes it possible to move the roller conveyors in the racking system synchronously without the need for an external drive for the storage locations.

Fast processing

The X-Way Mover replaces individual vehicles and stationary systems, such as storage and retrieval machines in the terminal, allowing storage capacities to be significantly increased - even doubling or tripling with the same space requirement. By eliminating interfaces, the entire workflow is optimized and accelerated. The vehicle can remove goods directly from the truck and store them on the first, second or third shelf level without any detours. As a multifunctional vehicle, the X-Way Mover offers a comprehensive solution for logistics between airside and landside.

The design of the vehicles follows a modular system that allows the load capacity, lifting height and vehicle width to be flexibly adapted to the respective application, taking IATA standards into account. The X-Way Mover 140, a model of the latest generation, is designed for transporting loads of up to 14,000 kg and has been specially developed for handling 20-foot ULD containers. The smaller X-Way Mover 70 is ideal for handling 10-foot ULD containers and offers a load capacity of up to 6,800 kg, which also results in more compact external dimensions compared to the X-Way Mover 140. Both vehicles are equipped with two masts to ensure maximum stability and have a platform width of 2,500 mm. The lifting heights can be flexibly adjusted between 200 and 7,200 mm, depending on requirements.

Sicherer Transport X-Way Mover

The X-Way Mover is equipped with a 2,500 mm wide platform, which includes a robust and electro-hydraulic roller deck that is precisely proportionally controlled. To ensure gentle handling of the ULDs, the rollers on the load transfer side are fitted with a protective rubber layer, while retractable load locks effectively prevent the load from slipping. In contrast to conventional electric front loaders, which are often used in terminals for loading and unloading trucks and require wide aisles due to their lack of multi-directional chassis, the X-Way Mover offers a much more efficient solution. Traditional forklifts lift ULDs with forks under high time pressure, which often results in damage to the freight. The X-Way Mover, on the other hand, can be used flexibly both indoors and outdoors and transports the goods safely and carefully to their destination using the roller deck.

Efficient electric drive

The latest generation of the X-Way Mover places particular emphasis on the electric drive, which is designed to cover all areas of use at an airport. Thanks to its flexibility, the X-Way Mover is suitable for outdoor use on the apron as well as indoor use in logistics, thus transcending traditional system boundaries. This versatility is made possible by the short charging times of the lithium-ion batteries, which are particularly advantageous in multi-shift applications with long operating hours. For applications with shorter operating times, high-performance lead-acid batteries are available as an alternative. A common obstacle to the electrification of vehicle fleets is the necessary charging infrastructure and compatibility with existing drive technologies at the airport. For this reason, the X-Way Mover is also available in a version with a diesel drive for outdoor use and with a hybrid drive for combined indoor and outdoor use.

Cost-efficient operation - Optimum availability
Geringe Wartungskosten

As only a single vehicle is used in the air cargo sector, maintenance and operating costs are significantly reduced. Efficiency is increased as there is no or only minimal downtime, which would occur if several individual vehicles were used. When using several X-Way Movers at the same time, even the failure of one device is unproblematic, as the vehicle can be used universally for different work processes and thus acts as a replacement in every step of ULD handling. On models with hybrid drive, the battery is recharged during diesel operation and the battery block can be replaced in the shortest possible time. This keeps the X-Way Mover ready for use around the clock, seven days a week.
